Marina Wealth is the kind of business you don’t forget easily: not because of its size or its marketing budget, but because of the sheer drive of its founders. It’s a wealth management company led by two people who pour their heart into everything: meeting people who wish to be more prosperous, creating investment strategies for them, and trying, often single-handedly, to grow their business. Their dream is to make investments accessible and guide people through the often-intimidating world of mutual funds. But that dream was being weighed down by the realities of running a lean organisation.
For every prospect they helped, there were ten others they couldn’t connect with. There was a pressing lack of time, and the greater challenge was in making every conversation meaningful. Their day-to-day work left them no time to think how to strategize their own story. The lack of a cohesive and persuasive message slowed them down with unpredictable hits and misses.
The founders realised that facts and figures aren’t going to inspire trust or action. What people needed was a narrative, their own narrative! What Marina Wealth direly needed were storytellers who could take their technical scenario and make it universally relatable.
That’s when they turned to Tellable, to find help to redo their business overview presentation and tell their many success stories. What we did not know at that point was that this collaboration would change more than just their overview presentation: it would change the course of their company.
Tellable takes over and owns all communication collateral for Marina Wealth
None of our presentations have been of the cookie-cutter sort, and the last thing this presentation needed to be is that. We started with Marina Wealth’s identity: sea voyages and discovery of prosperity; and we knew that had to be the theme of the presentation. Rather than building something newly out of our creative ego, we chose to build on the work they had already done, bringing their existing branding into every corner of the deck. It was a deliberate nod to respect the thought and effort that had already been put into the brand by fellow storytellers.
As always, research preceded practice. We immersed ourselves in the world of mutual fund distribution, understanding the technical details and deciphering the human challenges. In order to know what holds people back from investing, we had to first know what questions kept them awake at night. Because when the presentation is eventually ready, it needs to speak to the unspoken financial fears of the people through the expertise of Marina Wealth.
We scripted a 25-slide journey, where each slide would be a step any viewer feels compelled to take and find out what happens next. We carefully crafted visuals to creatively compliment what had been written, and made sure they spoke to both the numbers-savvy and the apprehensive. When it was all done, what we had in front of us was a story map that showed people the way through the deep waters of financial decision-making!

Creating time for small business founders with end-to-end communication support
Fast-forward a few weeks, we hear from Marina Wealth that our presentation is effortlessly helping them connect with clients, but we also got to hear that it’s reshaping how they ran their business. The two founders weren’t the only ones doing the talking anymore. The presentation was so comprehensive and easy to use that their customer relationship managers began using this presentation to lead the sales meetings on their own! A two-person show has started to feel like an organised team effort.
The founders, now freed from some of the day-to-day conversations, have started focusing on the next steps for their company’s growth.
The success of the presentation led to a second collaboration: an event brochure. Shouldn’t come as a surprise by now: we didn’t deliver a mere brochure! We crafted it to look like a passport to financial freedom. We designed the typical company information to appear like visa stamps, completing the design theme. This approach was not only creative, but also effective at attracting eyeballs and keeping prospects engaged throughout - something that event brochures rarely do.

Through our communication support we witnessed the impact we could create for small businesses. Marina Wealth trusted us to bring their ideas to life, and we trusted them to let us push the boundaries of what their communication could achieve. What started as a request for a presentation became a turning point for Marina Wealth, and their “deck” became a story that made prospects trust and employees understand. And for the founders, it brought clarity and confidence that allowed them to look ahead and dream bigger!
